He was such a confident and integral part of my second pregnancy and labour, compared to being pushed around the room like a spare part with my first. He said all the right things to me and my caregivers, he made the calls and arrangements, he was my continuity of care and advocated for me. I could NOT have done it without him. The standard Hollywood narrative of the useless bloke saying all the wrong stuff is regrettably deeply ingrained in our society. Hypnobirthing works to defy this.
