Beck’s Birth Story

First Birth

Planned Freebirth

My birth journey started when my son decided he wanted to be a Record breaker. He started to welcome himself to the world on the hottest day on record (UK) My experience started at 2am on the 19th July and my little Willow Bruce Wood was born at 2.10am on the 20th July.

I woke up to my contractions which were every 3 minutes from 2am until 8pm lasting on average around 1 minute. This was the start of a long 24hrs. The last 6hrs of babes journey was super intense. Willow was spine to spine / sunny side up. With each contraction my body felt that it was being torn apart by wild horses. They were every 1 minute to constant. I had no idea when his decent was going to end, hours or days I had no idea of knowing. I was drifting in and out of consciousness and throwing up so much from the pain.

Even though It was the hottest day. A rainbow came out right in front of my eyes while I was praying ‘I can’t do this give me strength’. A sign when I felt like I couldn’t continue.

At 1am I had a strong urge to make my way out of my den which was outside in the field and back on to my boat. While I was walking I looked into the sky, there was the biggest brightest half orange moon. Such blessings. I knew it was another sign to say he’s nearly here and I can do this.

I made my way to my bed while I had only one salt light on. The light was like the moon. Warm orange. I was on all fours and with each contraction I let my body take over and do all the work. I released the sounds of wild animals using my vocal cords to balance the energy. He came out perfect. Head first (facing forward), I slipped the cord from him neck and his body came out. He took his first breath where his soul came to him. Willow was clearing out his lunges by his loud cry. I had a rush of love as I was holding his tiny slippy body to mine. The placenta was born around 40mins after as I squatted over my vintage mixing bowl.

I had no pain relief, no medical intervention and no tearing. A pure free birth. My birth dream has come true. I’m so very proud of my body and it’s abilities. Honestly the hardest experience I have ever been through. The reward is beyond words. I am so in love.

A wild woman.
